Definitely NOT the Ritz but the price seemed OK for a hotel in downtown Guelph on graduation day at UofGuelph. The address was given as 95 MacDonnell but actually it is across from the rail station on the street behind the building. Every train rings its bell passing through. The rudest of desk clerks ever encountered insisted that our reservations didn't exist. After 10 minutes of arguing suddenly they did exist after all. Once that was established then there was the surprise of a $200 (!!!) deposit for any "damages" to the room. Take it or leave it the dragon lady said.Other than peeling paint and wallpaper, the room itself was not too bad but well past the recomended date for renovations. No hot water in the morning for a shower. Did I mention the bed bugs? At age 76 my first experience with them. Blood on the sheets in the morning. Angry red welts on my hand, and one of the critters spotted under a pillow. Same rude response to my report of their presence. Other than these quibbles, our room awaits future guests...... we'll give it a 1 out of a number way higher than 5 or 10.

So good so far. First night here very quiet and reasonable prices

Great customer service from Carolyn. Highly recommend staying at royal inn and suites

Terrible customer service. I booked a room and gave them my card info. 3 hours later, around midnight, they informed me that there was an error in their system and no rooms are available. I had to sleep in my car for the night. Furthermore, they had charged my card already without refunding it. It was very difficult to get an answer as to when I would get my money back upon multiple interrogations. A week later still no answer or refund.

This was a last-choice hotel for one night in Guelph. The city's Jazz Festival threw a spanner in the works and we had to scramble. This was the result. It was a non-smoking room and was supposed to have a queen-sized bed. The room smelled . . .used. Not moldy, or musty, or even bad, just worn out. The bed wasn't queen-sized. It was a smallish double, but that wasn't the weakest aspect of the room. Everything in the room looked like it was rescued from the curb before garbage pick-up. Everything. The pieces-missing TV, the breaking office desk (no dresser), the peeling wallpaper, the 70s-era carpet, the hair dryer that didn't fit into the screwed-into-the-wall hair dryer holder (different models). We tried to open the blinds in the bathroom and they fell out of the broken brackets. We decided the time-saving of staying overnight wasn't worth an attempt to stay here and just left. If you're desperate, maybe? I couldn't.
