I had a small emergency requiring same day service (a leaking tire -turned out to be a cracked rim). Despite some complications they found a good solution to get me on my way.
I had a great experience at Master Mechanic Guelph! From the moment I arrived, the staff was friendly, professional and honest about what my car needed - no overselling or unnecessary repairs. They took the time to explain everything clearly and make sure I understood what was being done. I would also like to mention the manager Maad, he is a very nice person. Thank you for your quality service!
Unfortunately my experience here was not the best. I appreciate that they were polite throughout the process but I still feel as though they took advantage of me because I am a female and were not transparent about what was needed. I originally came here to see what my brakes needed and they did a review and estimated brakes and rotors at 715.00 and charged me 80.00 for the inspection but assured me this 80.00 would be reduced if I went back for service. I called around for other mechanics to do this service and was quoted much lower prices. Unfortunately because of the wait of those other mechanics and their location master mechanic was the most convenient however it was my mistake to trust them again. Prior to starting the service that they themselves quoted me at at 640.00 for brakes and rotors I said "I would like to now have my brakes and rotors done at the price you originally quoted me at" i even had an email with them confirming this price. While they were working they broke a bolt on my caliper and then proceeded to charge me for extra labor and a new caliper. When questioned on why my 640.00 repair was now 1129.00 they said it was because a new caliper was required. When I asked them to reconsider the price for a brand new caliper that they admitted to shearing the bolt off during service, they said they would see if they could help. How generous for them to take off 30.00 of my bill. What was supposed to be a 640.00 repair became a 1099.00 repair. I truly feel like I was taken advantage of because I am a woman who doesn't seem to know much but after asking other mechanics they agreed that this was wrong. The car would have been undriveable without the caliper they damaged so in essence they were holding my vehicle hostage until I paid to cover their mistake. They didn't openly admit that they were the ones that damaged the bolt, I had to ask about that myself and they also didn't do the right thing to rectify the situation. The right approach would have been to warn me that its possible this could have happened when they looked at the caliper itself before they attempted to remove it, then maybe I would have had a choice to spend over a thousand dollars on something I budgeted differently for. Not impressed and will not be returning.
