I'll add my two cents to these reviews. We had Jim-L replace our power vent hot water heater with a direct vent tank three years ago. It is completely silent, great install, problem free. Hired them again two months ago to replace our bath tub. Perfect install, even with the added challenge of the plumbers having to take out a row of floor tile first, to make sure the bathtub was level and not sitting on a floor that could never be replaced again. (I'm not a fan of built up floors. There were already three different layers of flooring there.)They use a call service to manage calls, and seem very busy - it took 6 weeks to get our invoice after the install. That could be a minus if you're impatient, but we hired them for the plumbing. The price was as expected based on the estimate.The plumbers are great but work fast. They will try to protect floors, etc. as they go, but supplying some of your own drop cloths is a good idea.
Fantastic group of people. Hailey, who coordinates appointments, is always so friendly and helpful. The plumbers are equally friendly and professional and they get it right the first time. Jim-L is who we call now for all plumbing needs at the building we manage in Guelph. Highly recommended.
Not sure how this company gets such good reviews. They have terrible service and dont do a good job!Years ago we had them do some work for us and they installed the shut off valve so that you cant actually shut it off.Back in December 2017 our water heater was leaking so we called them to come take a look and provide a quote for a new water heater.Jims son came out and was quite friendly and said hed send us a quote within 24-48hrs.We never received a quote and could never get ahold of anyone when we called....just their call centre saying they would pass on the message.We just received a bill from them (April 2018) for services we never received! Again, I called them and left a message with the call centre and still no call back!!!Worst service ever!!!!
I had a very bad experience with JimL Plumbing today.A cartridge needed replacement in the basement laundry sink.The plumber went away for 1hour to buy a cartridge -from one end of Guelph to the other- coming back saying he didn't find the right part so he has to change the whole faucet.After 1 hour away he worked for 50 minutes to fix the faucet.He said I will have to pay for his time away because he can't load his truck with parts for the" needs of the whole city". He is charging 80 $/hour to be away.Nice I would like to get paid for doing nothing just like him.
My experience was back in November 2017. I'm still angry about the service.I had Jim-L Plumbing install a water softener for me which I was quite excited about since I had waited a long time and worked hard in order to purchase one. I explained to them, what I believe was a pretty standard set up. I had just purchased a new faucet for the sink along with a separate one for drinking water. The set up I got was my cold water in kitchen is hard water and my hot is soft and no hook up for the separate drinking tap. I complained about it and was told this was their standard set up and that there would be additional charge for the set up I requested. I don't believe that this is their set up because anyone one else I spoke to has never heard of such a set up. They made a mistake and were not willing to fix at their cost. Like really hard and soft water coming out of the same tap. Ridiculous.Unfortunately now I have to wait until I can afford to have someone else to come in and fix this mess. I believe this company should have stood behind their work and feel that they took advantage of me and dropped the ball.So disappointed and angry!!
