I love Guelph, and the hard work of our civil servants, but jeebus the service here can be slow. Ive never been hassled or double billed, but it sure does make take a long time to process a transaction. The building has a nice big splash fountain outside that converts into a (dry) city square or a ice rink the winter. Theres usually a peace officer or a security guy around, which is nice. Theyre always friendly.I see the green wall is still up. I like the green wall and Im glad they didnt take it down, despite all the huffing and puffing in the prior election.Parking downtowns confusing. Theres a paid lot nearby, which I believe has some free parking hours on weekends (dont quote me). Theres a few bike racks nearby as well.
Somebody at City Hall needs to stop the insanity! Not sure what genius at Guelph transit decided it was a good idea to add the new speakers to the outside of the city bus, located at the front door and make them scream out 'stop request' and then scream out the street name and the destination as well. It is really loud (not to mention the noise must be quite obnoxious blaring in the face of people as they step onto the bus) and for the past couple of weeks all you hear every 30 minutes starting at 6 in the morning and past midnight, is the loud speakers outside of the bus screaming out 'stop request' followed by a list of all of the the street names and then the 'downtown' destination!! These are residential neighborhoods these buses drive through and we live a block away and we hear the loud recorded message constantly, with the windows closed!! The poor guys living next to these loud bus stops must be ready to slit their wrists! Good luck trying to sell your house if you are next to a bus stop... seriously, all day every day that noise is screaming at you like clockwork!! Curious how much Guelph tax payers spent to add these 'must have' speakers and recordings to all the city buses... must be nice to have more money than you know what to do with and splurge on such frills. Some idiot at the Guelph transit office has lost touch with reality and needs a swift kick in the rear and somebody at Guelph City Hall needs to remove those loud obnoxious recordings from the outside of the city buses IMMEDIATELY and let the people in Guelph get some sleep!!
Great customer service in a great town. Keep it up Guelph!
It's fancy inside! I buy my bus pass here and it's always nice to visit town hall. It's a bit of a wait in line, but once you're at the desk the ladies are quick and adept.
Seems as though the building is not laid out for civil servants to serve the community.
