Has a lot of potential however the service and coffee were lacking. The cortado and cappuccino weren't made very well, and unfortunately the drinks were tossed after a few sips due to the taste. The espresso taste on both drinks was drowned out with too much luke warm milk. The server seemed nice but you could tell they were overwhelmed with the orders. The person working could benefit from some more barista training as the drinks weren't made properly. With the cortado the milk was not steamed and there was no foam on the cappuccinos.
We have been conducting a `coffee exploration' in Guelph. Guildsmen was our third stop in as many weeks. We ordered a cortado and two americanos. The young woman at the cash was very off-putting, and didn't smile once. The person making the coffee is a mess. They could really use more formal Batista training. Spilled coffee ground everywhere. The cortado was basically a glass of milk, could not taste the coffee. My dad, whom ordered the Americano opted to get a second coffee at the coffee shop across the street as he couldn't finish his. You can tell this place benefits immensely from being located inside the farmers market. People always perceive everything inside small markets as better. But it wouldn't last as a stand-alone. None of this would be an issue if their pricing was not at a premium. Don't belive the hype.
I have been to a number of cafes around the world and I say, without hesitation, these folks are among the best. Even in the hustle and bustle of a busy market, they are able to make you feel like a welcome friend. There is no need to ponder over what you want to get. Simply tell them what you are looking for and they will make you a warm cup of something wonderful. Your day will be better for it, I assure you. There is a selection of delicious accompaniments waiting to join your drink and they are always coming up with new ideas. The love, care, and passion for what they do can be experienced with every sip and bite.
A friend and I stumbled upon Guildmans Cafe this morning at the Farmers Market. We’re both so sad that this is only available to us on Saturdays! We had 2 delicious lattes with freshly grated Tonka Bean, so good! The baked goods looked incredible and we are already looking forward to visiting next weekend’s visit so that we can try some!
