Frustratingly poor planning went into the design of this train station. Its parking lot only has about 15 spaces. So it's virtually impossible for people who don't live downtown to take the train from this station because there is nowhere to park your vehicle. How stupid is that?

From a Guelph native, Guelph deserves and could have done much better. The tunnel leading to the station from the kiss and ride is absolutely disgusting. If you catch it after cleaning you are lucky but generally it is filthy dirty with food thrown around, garbage everywhere and a distinct smell of cigarette smoke and urine. There is no parking here! I repeat no parking! The city wants you to park in the city lot across the road at $20 per day and no discount for customers. You cannot even park nearby as Guelph allows you to park on the road in the downtown core for a max of 2 hours per day. I have tried taking the bus here but the city bus schedules are not synced with the GO Train schedule adding up to an hour to my already 4 hour daily commute to Toronto. The city does reduce the bus fare if you show your GO ticket ( guess you need to buy it in advance) or Presto Card. The station itself was recently renovated but customer service is terrible. I guess another part of my frustration is the GO Transit wanted 2 stations in Guelph, one downtown and the other out near Silvercreek and Hanlon that would have the normal GO parking. The city axed the idea insisting on one station, downtown, without parking. :(

Worst transit system in the GTA. Sometimes the buses just dont show up. For the second time this year, today I deposited 3$ exactly to the machine and it miscounted causing the bus driver to demand more money. Today that was the last of my change so I told him I made sure it was three dollars before hand and tried to be slow putting the coins in, (8 quarters and a looney) he said it was only 2 dollars.

Echoing some other's postings: it is better than it was but it is still a fairly long cry from what we the residents of Guelph along with frequent travellers/commuters were told to expect at its completion (of course that also leads to commentary about the continual construction no operational delays). For anyone travelling to or from union station right now is dealing with what feels like endless construction at union and now Guelph is not much better with their completion deadlines. For the prices we pay to get from one construction zone to another, we should receive some kind of discount or voucher for future travel or something now that this construction has been past deadline at both locations.

The station is decent, no major problems. The new upgrades help it a bit, but the issue is that Go and Via have set their sites pretty low in developing these stations into useful transport hubs. The city hasn't done anything better to reinvision the possibilities for this. It's totally fine... but that's it.
